The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.
These two have handled everything that has thrown at them with such ease and after a long time coming, they were *finally* able to celebrate their love alongside close family and friends!
I met Avery in Breckenridge, Colorado (one of my absolute FAVORITE places on this earth). I was nannying her aunt’s kids for the summer and her aunt asked me if I would go with them to CO. I immediately fell in love with the beauty in the mountains. The crisp, clean air. The aspen tree leaves twinkling in the wind. And the freeness you felt just being in nature. Avery and her family met us there and we all hung out in a cabin for some time over the summer. I remember taking her big, white, fluffy dog for a walk on a cool, summer evening in the mountains. We had such a great time that summer.
Fast forward quite a few years -- Avery met the man she decided she wanted to spend the rest of her life with in college at A&M. Shortly after, Avery reached out to me asking if I’d be interested in shooting their wedding. She mentioned she wanted someone she knew photographing her wedding day. I made it clear to her that she was the first wedding I would shoot (before COVID changed things) and she put all of her trust in me. I felt honored.
Although we booked her wedding in August of 2019 for June 13, 2020, their day was pushed back to December 27, 2020. Even though plans changed a little, Avery and Lucas were living in Hawaii and it was the perfect way to come back during the holidays to visit with family and also celebrate their marriage.
For some reason, I always end up talking to the bride's dad. Avery’s dad came up to me at the end of the night and we got to talking about his four kids, now almost all grown up and out of the house. He began describing each of them in their own way. When he got to Avery, he stopped for a second and gave me the look to make you wonder what was about to come out of his mouth. He mentioned how different she was from his other children, unique in a way. The best way to sum up how he spoke about her was that she was always ready and prepared for the next step in her life. He spoke highly of how organized, and thorough so was and it brought me such joy listening to a father talk so beautifully about his first born.
Their day was filled with delicious Texas barbecue, the Aggie War Hymn, LOTS of dancing and more!
What a beautiful December day it was with the sweetest couple!
Avery and Lucas, what a perfect Texas day for you two to be surrounded by your family and friends as you celebrate love! Thank you for having me — honored you chose me to capture your day!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Chester!
