Backyard Wedding | Leander, TX | Joanna + Michael

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

Nothing was going to stop this couple from tying the knot and celebrating their love with their close family and friends.

When I first met Joanna, I could tell we were going to get along because she came off as very easygoing and that’s just my kind of person. I started asking her questions about their wedding day and it became very clear that her main goal was to get married to the love of her life, surrounded by the people who loved them most. Everything else was icing on the cake. We'll talk about the cake later.

They chose to have their wedding in Joanna’s mother's backyard that had a gorgeous view. With about 20 or so guests, Joanna and Michael said their vows just as the sun was setting. Shortly after, everyone enjoyed some good ol’ Smokey Mos BBQ, drinks and conversation inside while the Texas heat began to cool down. At least we thought it would.

One of my favorite dates my husband and I go on is to Dairy Queen. I know it sounds silly, but we just love their blizzards. I have come to find out, you can mix flavors! Typically my husband will find just about anything with chocolate to devour but I have started to ask for half reese’s and half oreo and it is the most delicious thing! The reason why I am telling you all of this is because Joanna and Michael had an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and although it was a fiasco cutting the cake, it was consumed very quickly! What a great idea for a hot, summer day!

The night came to a close with a lighting a few lanterns and watching them float up into the sky as well as confetti cannons shooting off to celebrate Mr and Mrs. Cowdrey!

Joanna and Michael, even though I haven’t known you for very long, I am so thrilled to be a part of your story and cannot wait to see how the rest of it unfolds. It was truly an honor to capture your intimate wedding. Ya'll are a beautiful couple. I had a blast with y'all and I am grateful for the opportunity to spend the evening with you and your close family and friends. I pray you have many more years filled with as much joy, love and lots of laughter your wedding day had. Thank you for trusting in me to document your love.
